As you may already know, Windows 10 will reach end of life on October 14, 2025. That means if you’re still running Windows 10, it’s time to start planning your move to Windows 11.
Recently, I upgraded my workstation to Windows 11 and encountered an unexpected issue: random network disconnects on my brand-new HPE workstation. At first, I thought our internet line was going down, but the real culprit turned out to be the network card settings.
After some troubleshooting, I found a reliable fix. If you’re running an HPE workstation with Windows 11 and experiencing random disconnects, here’s what to do.
Step-by-Step Fix
-
Open Control Panel
-
Navigate to your Network and Sharing Center.
-
Select your active network connection.
-
-
Access Network Card Properties
-
Click Properties.
-
Click Configure for your network adapter.
-
-
Adjust Advanced Settings
-
Go to the Advanced tab.
-
Change the following settings:
-
Interrupt Moderation → Disable
-
Interrupt Moderation Rate → Off
-
Large Send Offload (IPv4) → Disable
-
Large Send Offload (IPv6) → Disable
-
-
-
Reboot Your Workstation
-
Not always required, but highly recommended.
-
The Results
After making these changes, my HPE workstation stopped disconnecting and has been completely stable ever since.
I’ll admit, it was frustrating to discover that my new Windows 11 desktop worked worse than my old Windows 10 system, at least out of the box. But with these adjustments, the upgrade is now running smoothly.

If you’re an IT administrator or an end user dealing with intermittent network drops on HPE workstations, give this fix a try before replacing hardware or blaming your internet provider.
