Your LTO 8 Tapes are finally available and make it easier to follow Backup Best Practices
As you know Sony and Fujifilm (the last two LTO 8 manufacturers) were involved in a lawsuit that prevented the sale of LTO 8 tapes.  Ironically you could purchase an LTO 8 tape drive, but not the LTO 8 tapes.  LTO 8 (native 12TB) double the capacity of LTO 7 (native 6TB) tapes.  A quick check of some online vendors now show the tapes in stock.  Here's a link https://www.backupworks.com/HPE-LTO-8-Tape-Media-Q2078A.aspx.  Tape is still one of the best ways to store your backups offline and offsite.  Make sure to follow the 3-2-1 backup rule:  three copies of your data, on two different media, and one copy offline AND offsite.  Data replicated to a Disaster Recovery site usually doesn't count because your data are still online.  If you purchased an LTO 8 drive, now you can finally utilize the full capacity of the tape.
